About The Attic Youth Center

The Attic Youth Center supports LGBTQ+ youth in building healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives. We provide affirming, trauma-informed programs that meet young people where they are and help them move toward stability, connection, and self-sufficiency.

Position Overview

The Housing Navigator partners with youth to prevent and address housing instability and homelessness. Using a strengths-based, youth-driven approach, the Housing Navigator conducts assessments, develops individualized housing plans, coordinates services, and connects youth to internal and community resources. This role works closely with clinical and program staff to ensure youth receive holistic, affirming support—often at critical moments in their lives.

Housing Navigation at The Attic prioritizes homelessness prevention, rapid response to crisis, and long-term stability, empowering youth to build independence and permanent connections.

Key Responsibilities

Intake & Assessment

  • Support intake and prescreening of youth to assess needs and urgency of services
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and orient youth to Attic programs
  • Respond immediately to critical needs and ensure safety, nutrition, and hygiene supports
  • Identify appropriate case management pathways and link youth to services

Housing & Case Planning

  • Maintain a caseload of youth with housing-related needs
  • Develop and update individualized, youth-driven housing plans
  • Coordinate grant-funded financial assistance for eligible youth
  • Support youth in securing identification and accessing housing resources
  • Track progress, provide advocacy, and participate in citywide housing efforts
  • Strengthen youth support systems and permanent connections

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Attic clinical, program, and housing staff
  • Build strong relationships with community agencies and service providers
  • Refer and coordinate services both within and outside The Attic

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, timely case notes and client records
  • Collect and enter data to meet funder and program requirements
  • Report critical incidents promptly

Team & Agency Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and Attic events
  • Model effective teamwork and communication
  • Uphold Attic values, policies, and confidentiality standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, youth development, human services, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in community-based case management; housing or homelessness prevention experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with diverse adolescents, particularly LGBTQ+ youth
  • Knowledge of positive youth development and empowerment models
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
