Job Summary:

The Development Associate works closely with The Attic’s Director of Development and Executive Director on all areas of fundraising with primary responsibility for maintaining the donor database and overseeing all recordkeeping related to donor tracking; solicitation/cultivation mailing & online campaigns (annual end of year appeal, Pride campaigns, Giving Tuesday, etc.) in collaboration with Communications Associate; coordinating in-kind donations; supporting the Director with grants management, with some grant and report writing, special events, and other administrative tasks. The position provides a great opportunity to work on all aspects of fundraising and marketing for a growing nonprofit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Donor Perfect donor database, completing regular data entry & data management, expanding donor content, incorporating all grants data, & cleaning data transferred from Salesforce
  • Provide quality assurance for maintaining database integrity.
    • Manage the timely acknowledgement of gifts and assure that all types of donations are properly documented.
    • Regularly manage updates to constant contact mailing lists to ensure all contacts are properly moved through the development process and coded appropriately.
    • Collaborate with Communications Associate & provide support to implement targeted marketing and campaigns
    • Collaborate with Director on creation/implementation & tracking in database of all stewardship activities for all donors
  • Create written/visual donor data reports to provide information and analyze results of campaigns.
  • Conduct research on prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. 
  • Work with DD, ED & finance/accounting department on incoming gift processes.
  • Prepare, write, and assemble grant proposals/reports for foundations, with Director of Development.
  • Assist with coordination of in-kind donations
  • Assist in planning/hosting fundraising events.
  • Provide support for other activities related to fundraising and communications as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about The Attic’s mission to create opportunities for LGBTQ youth
  • At least three years of experience performing related duties in a nonprofit/social service setting, with a proven track record of excellence in organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Professional computer skills: proficiency required in using Microsoft Office Suite & experience in using donor databases, prospect research, stewardship and experience using DonorPerfect and/or other
  • donor databases required.
  • Excellent communication skills and judgement with the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality of development/finance and budget related information.

  • Able to regularly work on-site 5 days per week; with 1-2 days work from home/remote schedule negotiable after successful completion of 90-day introductory period.
  • The employee is often required to sit for an hour or longer, stand, balance, walk, climb one (1) flight of stairs.  Sometimes required to reach with arms and hands.
  • The vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Often uses a computer, tablet, or other office technology such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • Hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to navigate small and large group settings as well as one-on-one conversations.
  • Able to move boxes and materials weighing up to 20 pounds in all directions.
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions, especially during Spring/Summer months.
